1X2 Tips for Today

Exeter vs Bath

Tip 1: Bath to win

Reason for the tip: It’s the final of the Premiership Cup as Exeter welcomes Bath to Sandy Park. The home faithful will be looking for some sunshine in what has been a dreadful season in the league for the Chiefs. While many of the other teams have rested their first team regulars in this Cup competition, Exeter have gone in with mostly first XV players. They are keen to build confidence for the rest of the league season while also trying to win some silverware.

Bath have been the best team in England this season but have fielded largely second string teams in the lead up to the final. For the championship match they have recalled some of their heavy artillery like Ben Obano and Thomas Du Toit albeit from the bench. I am tipping the visitors to snatch the win with their excellent replacement bench.

Mitsubishi Dynaboars vs Tokyo Sungoliath

Tip 2: Sungoliath to win

Reason for the tip: Two underperforming teams meet when the Mitsubishi Dynaboars play host to the Tokyo Sungoliath. Both teams are out of the race for playoff positions but there is plenty to play especially for the home side. They are currently in a relegation battle and desperately need a win to stay in the top flight.

The star studded Sungoliath have been the most disappointing team this season as they have won just four of their 10 matches despite having the likes of world class players like Cheslin Kolbe and Kotaro Matsushima. In their defence, both players have missed a fair chunk of the season with injury. I am expecting a backing from the visitors therefore I predict a Sungoliath win.

Handicap Betting Tips For Today

Exeter vs Bath: Away team (+2.5)

Reason for tip: One would assume that since Exeter are fielding a full strength team, they would be major favourites for the win. The reality though is that the team has lacked cohesion all season and have struggled with their set pieces especially at scrum time. This will certainly be an area that Bath will target so it could be a long afternoon for the home team’s front row. The visitors have decided to give youth a chance with their team selection but have wisely left their experienced players on the bench to close out the match. I am tipping Bath for the upset win thereby covering the +2.5 handicap.

Mitsubishi Dynaboars vs Tokyo Sungoliath: Away team (-7.5)

Reason for tip: The Mitsubishi Dynaboars were hoping for a better return than three wins from their ten matches especially after signing Springbok flyer Kurt-lee Arendse. The winger has not had much opportunity to showcase his talents as the pack has often been on the back foot in matches. Dynaboars have the second worst defence in the league, having conceded 372 points in their ten matches at an average of 37.2 Sungoliath will be looking for a bonus point win which I think they will gain and will beat the handicap of -7.5.

Understanding Rugby Betting

It is crucial that players understand the different types of rugby betting. If a player places a wager on a handicap bet with fully understanding it, he could think they won the bet but instead they lost the bet as they did not understand how it works.

Different types of Rugby bets

Match Winner

The most self-explanatory of bets to take on a rugby match. This is the most common and oldest type of rugby bet in which you select Team A or Team B to win. The odds on this type of bet may be low especially if your team is the favourite.

Draw No Bet

The draw is quite rare in Rugby Union, but it does happen from time to time. If you’re worried about the draw messing up your bet then take a Draw No Bet market. Your bet will be refunded if the match result ends in a draw.

Handicap Betting

The most popular bets on rugby are handicap bets. This is often where some of the best value is to be found. The handicap is an advantage that bookmakers give one team to make the game more balanced. The team given the positive handicap can win, draw or lose the game by less than the handicap to cover the bet and win. The team with the negative handicap must win the match by more than the points set out in the handicap to win their bet.

Total points over/under

The over/under betting market involves predicting whether the total number of points scored in a match will be above or lower than a certain predetermined number. For instance, if you bet on the over/under 50 points market and you bet on under, the combined score of the two teams shouldn’t exceed 50.

First Try Scorer

Rugby fans know the excitement that comes when a player breaks through the defence to score the first try. Betting on the first-try scorer is about predicting which player from either team will cross the try line first. This bet type carries higher odds as it’s challenging to predict, making potential payouts more lucrative.

Anytime Try Scorer

Less specific than the first-try scorer bet, the anytime try scorer wager involves picking a player you believe will score a try at any point during the match. The odds are typically lower than for the first-try scorer but offer a better chance of a payout.
