1X2 Tips for Today
Fijian Drua vs Waratahs
Tip 1: Drua to win
Reason for the tip: Bottom placed Fijian Drua take on fifth placed Waratahs at Churchill Park in Fiji. The home side are on a horror run that has seen them slump to four straight defeats. They have won just one of their seven matches in this campaign and need a minor miracle to make the playoffs. The Waratahs have been superb at home and beat the Chiefs last week but they are yet to win on the road. They have won all five matches at home but have three defeats away from home. This will be a perfect opportunity for the Drua to break their win drought as their visitors struggle on the road.
The big news for the Drua is the return of Motikiai Murray who has been one of the few standout players for them. The Waratahs have rested prop Angus Bell for this match which could allow the home side to dominate the scrums as Taniela Tupou is also missing. The desperation of the Drua will be enough for them to win this match in front of their home fans.
Stormers vs Connacht
Tip 2: Stormers to win
Reason for the tip: The Stormers will be looking for a bonus point win when they take on an under strength Connacht team at the Cape Town Stadium. The home side are currently in 10th spot on the log with 35 points but the tightness of the competition means they are just four points behind fifth placed Munster. The visitors were dumped out of the Challenge Cup by 14 man Racing 92 last week and have been hit by a spate of injuries. Both their Ireland internationals, Bundee Aki and Mack Hansen are unavailable for this match.
The Stormers will be looking at their international stars like Damian Willemse and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu to get their attack going as they can change the match with a moment of magic. The battle will however be won and lost in the forwards and this is where the home side have the distinct advantage. If Connacht are to keep pace with the Stormers, they will need to find a way to at least gain parity in the set pieces. I am backing the home side to win as they have too much firepower in the backs and in the pack.
Munster vs Bulls
Tip 3: Munster to win
Reason for the tip: Munster will be looking for an instant bounce back after their Champions Cup exit with the Bulls being the visitors to Thomond Park. The home side are currently in fifth place but are far from secure in the playoff race as they are only four points ahead of the 10th placed team. The visitors on the other hand have booked their playoff spot and are now looking to secure home matches in the knockout stages. They were also knocked out of Europe last week and will be fully focused on this competition. Munster are likely to be without both John Coombes and Josh Hodnett who picked up injuries in the last match.
The Bulls have arguably the strongest scrum in the competition and will be targeting the Munster front row who are beset by injuries. The home side will be hoping for a better start than the last match as they trailed by 19 points at the break and couldn’t find a way back despite having an excellent second half. I am backing Munster for the win as they will be more desperate for the points than the Bulls.
Handicap Betting Tips For Today
Saracens vs Gloucester: Away team (+16.5)
Reason for tip: Two of the playoff contenders will go head to head when Saracens play host to Gloucester at the Stone X Stadium. Both teams were knocked out of Europe in the last couple of weeks but fielded weakened teams in those matches. The selections in Europe showed that their interest lies in winning the Premiership. Saracens are currently sixth on the table with 39 points while Gloucester are fourth, just two points ahead. I am expecting Saracens to win this match but I am tipping the visitors to cover the +16.5 handicap.
Western Force vs Hurricanes: Home team (+4.5)
Reason for tip: The Force will be hoping to continue with their excellent season when they play host to the Hurricanes. The home side are currently sixth on the log with 21 points while the visitors are just a spot and four points behind. The Force have been one of the surprise packages this season with their form at home being superb. The Hurricanes have mixed the good with the bad as they continue to struggle with injuries. Both their first choice tens are out which has seen regular fullback Rueben Love shift into the fly half position.
The Force are without Dylan Pietsch for this match with Bayley Kuenzle coming onto the wing for his first start of the season. The enterprising style of play of the Force has been refreshing led by their try machine Carlo Tizzano. The flanker has been in sensational form and if the Hurricanes give him any space near the tryline he will make them pay. I am predicting a Force win therefore they will cover the +4.5 handicap.
Leinster vs Ulster: Away team (+18.5)
Reason for tip: In an all Irish derby, the high flying Leinster play host to Ulster at the Aviva Stadium. The hosts have been in tremendous form over the last two rounds of the Champions Cup, scoring over 110 points while whitewashing their opponents. Ulster can be glad they won’t be facing the same personnel as the hosts are likely to rest the majority of the team from those games. The visitors can take heart from their last performance when they went down to Bordeaux as their attack looked really good.
Leinster are eight points clear at the top of the table so they can experiment and send out a completely changed team. Ulster on the other hand are sixth on 37 points just two ahead of the tenth placed team. A defeat could see them drop out of the playoff positions. I am expecting Leinster to win the match but I am backing Ulster to cover the +18.5 handicap.

Understanding Rugby Betting
It is crucial that players understand the different types of rugby betting. If a player places a wager on a handicap bet with fully understanding it, he could think they won the bet but instead they lost the bet as they did not understand how it works.
Different types of Rugby bets
Match Winner
The most self-explanatory of bets to take on a rugby match. This is the most common and oldest type of rugby bet in which you select Team A or Team B to win. The odds on this type of bet may be low especially if your team is the favourite.
Draw No Bet
The draw is quite rare in Rugby Union, but it does happen from time to time. If you’re worried about the draw messing up your bet then take a Draw No Bet market. Your bet will be refunded if the match result ends in a draw.
Handicap Betting
The most popular bets on rugby are handicap bets. This is often where some of the best value is to be found. The handicap is an advantage that bookmakers give one team to make the game more balanced. The team given the positive handicap can win, draw or lose the game by less than the handicap to cover the bet and win. The team with the negative handicap must win the match by more than the points set out in the handicap to win their bet.
Total points over/under
The over/under betting market involves predicting whether the total number of points scored in a match will be above or lower than a certain predetermined number. For instance, if you bet on the over/under 50 points market and you bet on under, the combined score of the two teams shouldn’t exceed 50.
First Try Scorer
Rugby fans know the excitement that comes when a player breaks through the defence to score the first try. Betting on the first-try scorer is about predicting which player from either team will cross the try line first. This bet type carries higher odds as it’s challenging to predict, making potential payouts more lucrative.
Anytime Try Scorer
Less specific than the first-try scorer bet, the anytime try scorer wager involves picking a player you believe will score a try at any point during the match. The odds are typically lower than for the first-try scorer but offer a better chance of a payout.
