Race 3 – 1700m (Maiden Plate)
If Palermo can reproduce his last run, he will win easily and could be a banker in many Pick 6’s. He took on winners in that race and ran an impressive second, just pipped to the line by Imaginable. He is short in the betting at evens, and we decided to look elsewhere for EW value. Step forward, Noble Warrior, who produced an eye-catching second in his last start. He has a wide draw to overcome, but he should finish in the money if he can run anything like his last start.

Race 4 – 1900m (FM 65 Handicap)
Top Ten showed a form return in her last run, and it is encouraging that champion jockey Richard Fourie is riding. She has a wide draw to contend with, but if switched off at the back, she should produce a run at the finish with just 55kgs on her back.

Race 5 – 1000m (MR 90 Handicap)
Ideally, in a sprint race, one would prefer backing a horse with a low weight. However, in this race, we are in the camp of Diani. He has a hefty weight of 62kgs, but he should be too good for this field, based on his last few runs. He ran in a pinnacle last time and was not disgraced against much stronger horses.

Race 6 – 1400m (MR 98 Handicap)
Mr Master Starter has dropped in the ratings from a MR 101 to a 96 and is back in handicap company. His last two starts in handicap were decent, and if he can return to his Graded and Pinnacle form, he should be too good for this field.

Race 7 – 1600m (FM 76 Handicap)
Miss Lialah takes a slight rise in class here but should still be competitive at 55kgs. She is in good form with three wins in her last five races and gets a good draw of one. She has a 100% record when jockey Muzi Yeni is in the saddle (3 wins from 3 runs), and the pair could add number four to the list in this race.

Race 8 – 1600m (MR 72 Handicap)
A competitive race to end the day and many with chances for the win. In the end, after studying the race, we sided with Silent Trigger. The five-year-old gelding is in good form and ran into the money in his last three starts. He has a wide draw to overcome, but what swayed us is his low weight of 52.5kgs thanks to the apprentice claim.
