Kenilworth Selections

Race 1 – 1200m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)

Late December produced a promising third place finish in his debut run. He followed that up with a disappointing fifth place, but he was reported to have a mouth injury and bleeding. We think he should bounce back here and finish in the money.

Suggested Bet – Late December EW @ 7/1EW Place

Race 2 – 1200m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)

La Pulga raced green on his debut and lost a length at the start. However, he still ran on well and with natural improvement, he should produce another good run.

Suggested Bet – La Pulga EW @ 6.5/1 Void – Scratched

Race 3 – 1400m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)

This race seems to be a three-way fight between Dixieland Band, White Waters and Pentolina. We are in the camp of Pentolina, she has a wide draw to overcome, but if not too far back by the last 500m, she should be a threat at the finish.

Suggested Bet – Pentolina to win @ 3.5/1

Race 4 – 1200m (Maiden Plate)

Charlene and Ellorix are exposed maidens, while there was only 0.5 lengths between Be Merry and Stu’s Girl in a recent race. However, current odds should not have Be Merry at 1.5/1 while Stu’s Girl at 11/1, we love the value on Stu’s Girl here.

Suggested Bet – Stu’s Girl EW – 11/1

Race 5 – 1600m (Open Maiden)

This is a weak open maiden race, so be careful when betting. Our selection is Tsunami Warning who has produced fair form in recent runs. He has a wide draw to overcome, but should fight out the finish.

Suggested Bet – Tsunami Warning EW – 9/1 Void – Scratched

Race 6 – 1400m (Class 4)

Carriacou has some decent form lines and has been racing against stronger. She is down a class here and should be competitive.

Suggested Bet – Carriacou EW – 5.5/1EW Win

Race 7 – 1400m (Cape A Stakes)

Very tough race with plenty of quality horses, but we are in the camp of Sugar Mountain. He never settled in his last start over in Gauteng and now back in home comforts of Kenilworth, a course and distance that his unbeaten at (4 runs, 4 wins), he represents excellent value.

Suggested Bet – Sugar Mountain EW – 7/1

Race 8 – 1800m (Class 4)

Plum Pudding is seeking a hattrick of wins here, but she will be giving Summer Night City 4kgs. Summer Night City finished 1.75 lengths behind Plum Pudding in her last start, but now with 4kgs in her favour, she should reverse that finish.

Suggested Bet – Summer Night City EW – 5.5/1

Race 9 – 2000m (Class 4)

Marshall Field is in a good space, with impressive form. He has run into the money in all of his last seven races, with three wins. He gets top jock Richard Fourie here, and should help bettors in the get out stakes.

Suggested Bet – Marshall Field EW – 5/1
