Fairview Selections

Race 1 – 1400m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)

I like Walt Whitman to run well in the opener on Friday. He should have finished closer in his last start but had to be steadied at the 500m mark. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie is still on board, so I expect another run into the money.

Suggested Bet – Walt Whitman EW @ 5/1EW Place

Race 2 – 1200m (Juvenile Plate)

Kingdundee is the right one in this race and should be a PA banker for many. However, I am not confident backing a 7/10 shot, so I looked elsewhere for EW value. Hideki has good form, and you can ignore his last run, as the jockey felt something went wrong. He should finish in the money if he can reproduce his debut run.

Suggested Bet – Hideki EW @ 10/1

Race 3 – 2000m (Open Maiden)

Instead of searching for a winner in this race, I sought some place value. Belle’s First Wave is a seasoned maiden and will likely stay a maiden throughout his career. However, he has okay form and holds a few of these on weight. With it being an open maiden race, his weight of 53.5kgs makes me believe he can run a place.

Suggested Bet – Belle’s First Wave to place in first four @ 2/1

Race 4 – 1600m (FM 64 Handicap)

Beau Kala has been rested for 14 weeks and should be fit and fresh. She has good form lines and gets the apprentice claim of 4kgs. With 56.5kgs, she is a massive runner in this race, and I love her EW value.

Suggested Bet – Beau Kala EW @ 5.5/1EW Place

Race 5 – 1000m (Pinnacle Stakes)

It is a competitive Pinnacle stakes sprint, so go wide in the exotics. Aussenkehr is an interesting runner; he is an MR 100 horse and has relocated from the highveld. I believe he may need this run in new surroundings, so I looked elsewhere. Jewel Cat is carrying a low mass of 51.5kgs and can win again off that weight. He ran on well in his last start and won impressively. With some luck in running, he can win again, and his EW odds provide plenty of value, especially with four places on offer.

Suggested Bet – Jewel Cat EW @ 9/1EW Win

Race 6 – 1400m (Pinnacle Stakes)

This is yet another competitive Pinnacle stakes race, and you must go wide in the exotics. Funky Music can go close here with just 54kgs. He had his first run in the province last month and ran well for a third-place finish. He holds most of his rivals on weight, and if he gets away to a good start, he will be hard to catch.

Suggested Bet – Funky Music EW @ 7/1

Race 7 – 1200m (Breeders Stakes)

It is a fascinating International Breeders Stakes qualifying event, and trainers Alan Greef and Gavin Smith have strong claims. It looks like a three-way race between Three Rocks, Luna Halo and Gimmie’s Lassie. I can’t separate all three, so consider picking all three horses if playing any exotics. For my selection, I decided on Luna Halo, who has a better draw than the others and provides EW value. In 13 races, she has eight wins, 2 seconds, and two fourths. She is a quality three-year-old filly and can provide a challenge to her two rivals. At 6.5/1, she provides exceptional EW Value, especially with EW bets paying four places for this race.

Suggested Bet – Luna Halo EW @ 6.5/1

Race 8 – 1200m (Classified Stakes)

The lucky last at Fairview, I found some great EW value in Great Times. The five-year-old showed a form return in his last start, and he can confirm that with a decent run in this race. He carries 53kgs and can run well with that low mass in this sprint race. Let’s hope we get some returns for our bet and head into the weekend with some profit.

Suggested Bet – Great Times EW @ 9/1 Void-Scratched
