Friday’s horse racing action is available from the Eastern Cape, with an eight-race program from the Fairview Poly track. Racing begins at 12:30 and includes a Non-Black Type F&M Handicap event in Race 7. Below are our South African horse racing tips, predictions and suggested bets for the day’s racing. Fairview Poly Selections
Race 1 – 1100m (Maiden Juvenile Plate)
Cape Flower has three good starts to her name and has run well with the blinkers. She gets the services of the apprentice jockey here, so she carries just 56kgs. She has the form to be competitive in this race, and I expect her to run into the money.

Race 2 – 1300m (Maiden Plate)
King Of Queen and Magic Prince are racing after a three-day break, so I looked elsewhere. Hat Hot Hat has decent form, and you can ignore his last start on the turf. He enjoys racing on the Poly and can run well. I like his EW value and expect him to finish in the top three.

Race 3 – 2000m (Maiden Plate)
Island Master overraced in his last start, but he stayed 2200m. He should have no issue with the 2000m, and if switched off early on, he should be a contender at the finish. He has fair form and could upset the two favourites with some luck.

Race 4 – 1200m (MR 68 Handicap)
Duke Of Orange has been running well with the apprentice Nirvan Nastili (3 runs, 1 win and 2 seconds). The duo has good chemistry and should produce another top effort. With just 50kgs, he should finish in the money once again.

Race 5 – 1200m (FM 76 Handicap)
You Win Again is chasing the hat trick, but I have concerns about the yards’ form. Trainer Alan Greef’s yard is struggling, and I can’t back the short odds on the favourite. Ella’s Delight has fair form and carries 53kgs. She could be the right horse to upset and win with the low weight. If she can get to the front, she may be hard to catch at the finish.

Race 6 – 1200m (MR 82 Handicap)
Transact carries a top weight of 60kgs, but is the top-rated horse in the field. He takes a drop in class and should run well. The form of his last start has been franked, and he represents excellent EW value.

Race 7 – 1800m (Non-Black Type F&M Handicap)
The featured race of the afternoon, trainer Alan Greef, holds a strong hand. As I mentioned, his yard is not doing well, so I am taking them on. Essential has been in top form since relocating to Fairview (3 runs, 2 wins and a third). The three-year-old filly took on males last time and ran well. She is a lurker in this field, and I believe she could win.

Race 8 – 1600m (Middle Stakes)
The lucky last and I found a double-digit outsider to send us home happy. Timbavati River has solid form lines with two wins in his last three starts. He is facing stronger here but carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs. He enjoys running on the Poly and, with some luck, can upset this field. With the Durban July on Saturday, this is the perfect opportunity to win some money for betting, so take a good EW bet.
