England showed just how dangerous they can be as they easily put away West Indies in their opening Super Eight game. For the English, encouraging signs were that Johnny Bairstow got back in form, and all of their players are firing at the right time. Phil Salt has continued his tremendous form, and scored an unbeaten 87 against the West Indies. With the ball, Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid are in top form, and will be the expected to trouble the South African batters.

South Africa went unbeaten in their group, but their performances were sometimes suspect. In all four games, the bowlers had to win games, including last over thrillers against Bangladesh and Nepal. The suspect form of the Proteas continued on Wednesday as the were pushed all the way by minnows the USA. Encouraging for the team was the form return of the batting line up as the team posted 194. However, the bowlers struggled and at one point, it looked like the USA would produce the upset victory. For Proteas fans, it was pleasing to see Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram score some runs again. Kagiso Rabada was at his best as well with the ball, and his four overs and three wickets was the reason USA did not win in the end.
