Wales U20 vs New Zealand U20
Wales could not have asked for a more difficult task as they face New Zealand in the opening round match of the U20 Rugby World Cup. The Dragons can take heart from the fact that they lost by just one point the last time these sides met in this tournament. The baby All Blacks will however be much better prepared having won the inaugural Rugby Championship for juniors. They came through the tournament unbeaten although they needed a last gasp draw against the baby Boks. Wales had a poor Six Nations U20 tournament where they finished fifth, though they did pick up two wins.
TIP: The New Zealand youngsters will no doubt want to play a running game while the Wales boys will be looking at a more structured approach. The backline of the Baby All Blacks was excellent in the recent Rugby Championships with the likes of Isaac Hutchinson and Stanley Solomon. Wales will be looking to their talisman Morgan Morse as he always gets them over the advantage line and he is a tireless ball carrier. The bookies have New Zealand as favorites and I am also backing them for the win. The best odds on this bet are as follows: Tictacbets 1.02, Wanejo 1.02 and Bettabets 1.03
HEAD-TO-HEAD STATS
Wales U20 vs New Zealand U20
- New Zealand have won five of the last six matches against Wales.
- The last two matches between these sides had 1 point victory margins.
Latest results for both teams
Wales beat Italy 27-15 in their last match while New Zealand beat Australia 36-25 in their last match.
PREDICTION
The Wales team rely on their set pieces so they will want to slow the game down and go from set piece to set piece while New Zealand will be looking to play a high tempo game. If the Welsh get sucked into throwing the ball around, they will be playing into the opposition’s hands. New Zealand will need to be weary of giving away cheap penalties in their own half as they Welsh will kick for touch and launch their driving mauls. The match will be decided in the forwards and New Zealand certainly hold the advantage in this regard. I am predicting an All Black win by 16 points.

Sports crazy fan that follows all major sport but the game with the oval ball is my real passion. Was an age level rugby coach and a huge supporter of the Springboks and diehard Liverpool man.
